I was all set to report on the Virginian Pilot story about the Norfolk City Council meeting last night...but, in the comments to that story, it was stated that Dan Moore was ARRESTED shortly after the meeting last night...for open carrying.
This is beyond believable but Dan Moore
was arrested shortly after leaving Norfolk City Hall this evening. Once
again, Norfolk Police illegally arrested Dan, handcuffed him,
unlawfully disarmed him, and eventually issued him a citation.
A nearby citizen attempted to film the arrest but was ordered by the Norfolk Police to stop, or else!
So much for freedom of the press!
So much for the freedom to keep and bear arms!
Norfolk taxpayers should be up in arms - the city has already given
away $10,000 to Dan in a recent settlement. And the city has harassed
him the same way twice since then!!!
Can't the City Council or Mayor control Norfolk Police? Don't the
Norfolk Police understand the most basic of laws, i.e. our individual
rights!!!!!
The commenter's name was listed as "Chet". Could this be Chet Szymecki, Open Carry.org and VCDL member who's currently involved in Federal litigation against the city for a similar incident? He was at the meeting. Another commenter mentioned that they were leaving Hooters when the incident happened. I was invited to go to Hooters for some fellowship and food after the meeting but declined.
As of right now, this story is unverified, but has the ring of truth. Hopefully someone who was there can shed more light on what happened.
Un-freaking-believable.
